Chapter 1
The concept that I am choosing to briefly describe is on how big of a role technology really does have in Education. I can really reflect on this topic because I was born in the generation that is described in the book in the 90s where no one really grows up without some sort of learning technology piece even as a toddler. I think that this will impact me as a teacher because I am so familiar with today's technology and how popular it is now a days. Although I am quite aware that there will always be so much more to learn about technology on a daily basis. I believe that growing up when I did will impact me as a teacher in a positive way because of being so familiar.
Another concept that I am going to point out will be on computers. People do not really realize how much computers really do for us, unfortunately many of us take them for granted. I can relate to this most certainly because ever since grade school I have been using computers not really caring about what they are doing for me as long as the computer is processing what I an telling it to do in a timely manner. This will impact me as a teacher because I will be able to realize and explain to my students how awesome computers really are and that no one should take them for granted.
The third concept that I would like to address would be about "21st century skills." Every year, even day that goes by, something newer/ better comes out. The more skills that we have as teachers the better we will be at informing our students about today's society in technology. I believe that this will impact me as a teacher because I will always be doing my absolute best to continue my skills with learning the new technology that comes out so I am up to date and on the same level as my students.
Overall in Chapter 1 there was so many things that I learned already. I am so excited to be able to read more in this textbook because there is a bunch that I need to figure out on how to become a successful teacher. I didn't even think about how much technology was really used until I read this chapter, you really don't think about it until you sit down and read about how much technology is used in today's schools.

It will be interesting to see how much technology is embraced in the classroom by teachers born in the '90s! It is very commonplace so I would expect some would be very natural - like a pen and paper to most of us (I wonder if/when that will go away?!?!). Amazingly, though, I have found resistance by some young adults in the classroom either because they are just not tech-oriented or (more frequently) because 'that wasn't how they learned when they were going to school'. Old habits die hard and in education, it is painfully slow to see true change!
